Moonlight Flit

I wrote this for the United Women's Orchestra in 1994, and It was recorded on the first CD in 1996. The title refers to "How High the Moon"- the changes are a reharmonisation of the old standard changes.
The theme is short, with a light bluesy melody above a floating latin feel. The 5-bar phrasing sounds fairly natural- I was surprised by it myself. There are 2 solo sections: a trumpet solo over the changes and an open duet section. On the UWO version this is played by tenor and drums.
I'm including .pdf files of the leadsheet (the basic theme) and the last few pages of the score, and an mp3 clip of the final chorus as played by the UWO.

Original line-up: ss, as, 2ts, bs, bcl. 4 tp, 3 tb, tba, pn, bs, dm.
Length: 6'20"

This piece has been performed by several bands, which means that on top of a version for a 'normal' line-up (without the extra bass clarinet, bass trombone instead of tuba) there is also a version featuring solo violin. Guitar and vibraphone parts are also available.

Information about ordering the music can be found on the "contact" page- see link above.
